100 ml of the sample are distilled off in an open flask in an atmosphere with nitrogen for a pre-programmed heating time. The evaporated sample passes through a water-cooled condenser. The volume of condensate is measured in a graduated receiver by means of a differential pressure measuring system with density compensation at predefined (programmable) points of percent distillation (volume of the distilled product).
For light products, an explosion-proof circulating cooling system is used to maintain the inlet sample temperature and the condenser temperature below the initial boiling points.
For heavy products, the condenser temperature is maintained in proportion to the boiling range in order to avoid clogging of the lines. The sample in the flask is mixed with nitrogen, thus reducing the risk of slowing down the distillation, ensuring fast and homogeneous heating of the sample and reducing coking at the bottom of the flask. There is an option to take measurements at low pressure.
